The Synergy Theatre is proud to announce that it has been appointed ‘theatre-in-residence’ at Priory School, Lewes. We have been given the warmest of warm welcomes and have been overwhelmed by the wealth of talent that the school’s drama department has to offer. After Twelfth Night, our next production will be our first in conjunction with Priory School and will be Thornton Wilder’s Pulitzer Prize-winning play, Our Town (see 'Next' for more details).
After Our Town, we have chosen an eclectic mix of drama for the forthcoming months:
February 2011 – Henrik Ibsen’s
Hedda Gabler.

In a brand new translation, The Synergy Theatre will present Ibsen’s powerful story of a spoilt society girl who eases her boredom by meddling in other people’s lives and thrives on being at the centre of a drama. But just how far does the drama have to go to satisfy her?
April 2011 – David Mamet's Boston Marriage.
Oleanna, Glengarry Glen Ross, Speed-the-Plow... David Mamet is
known for his incisive writing and Boston Marriage is no exception. Anna and
Claire are two ladies of fashion in the 1900s, living happily together in
genteel poverty. Then Anna takes a lover. Then Claire takes a lover. Then
Claire’s lover’s mother turns up. Boston Marriage is witty,
bursting with wry humour and a perfect observation of female friendship.
July 2011 – William Shakespeare’s
The Merchant
of Venice.
It’s such an easy thing, taking out a loan. Take the cash, sort out your
finances and maybe, just maybe, remember to read the small print in the
contract - afterwards. For Antonio, the eponymous Merchant, the small print
could prove fatal. The Synergy Theatre presents Shakespeare’s famous tale of
money, mercy and marriage in Lewes before airing it before Norwegian
audiences.
